“An estimated 250,000 Canadians have Hepatitis C, but many don’t know it. ”
Hepatitis is a disease characterized by inflammation of the liver caused by consuming contaminated water or food, using dirty needles or syringes, or practicing unsafe sex. Researchers have identified six hepatitis viruses, but three, known as A, B and C, cause about 90 per cent of acute hepatitis cases in Canada. Rx Connect Specialty Pharmacy is comprised of highly qualified pharmacist with certified training in hepatitis management.
People infected with hepatitis can experience effects ranging from mild illness to serious liver damage. Many recover completely from an infection, while others become carriers of the disease and can spread it to others unknowingly. Newer therapies are effective and can achieve cures of over 90%, but are very expensive and require professional navigation and support.
Access to Hepatitis medications can pose a significant obstacle for patients. Rx Connect will act as administrators to support special authorizations, diagnostic coordination, injection training and scheduling to make sure our patient have access to specialty medication(s).
